Why do people have such stupid questions on Yahoo Answers?

So why am I not pushing the Abuse Report Button and report that you are hassling other Users? Not everone who answers is included in a “bunch of sixteen year old girls.”

I can tell from your Question that you have put a great deal into it. It is not just a rant; you did not just blow your cool. You really want to know. Okay, I’ll do my best to put a great deal of thought into my answer.

This site is unique in the history of mankind. It is open to perhaps anyone who can read and write the English language well enough to construct even a piece of sentence with a question mark. But “out there” on the web are some other humans. Some are older. Some have more experience. Some might even be smarter. They can read these Questions and better yet, they can reply.

From your position, very many of these Questions are items that you personally could deal with in your own life. But you are not them and they are not me and I am not you. We each have a different point of view. The people who answer these questions may have very little to offer or may have solution so perfect but yet so complex that the answerer cannot understand them. And everything in between.

Sure, there are some Questions that really are inappropriate, but there are hundreds of thousands that are not. Please allow these other users to learn the system, even if it means asking stupid questions. I used to get up set at seeing so many of these myself. Until my granddaughter told me to “chill out and give the kids a break.”

Don’t let these attempts by others get to you. Even those which are “cute” or “really stupid.” Who knows, that 13 year old who found out she wasn’t pregnant may be one of those “16 year old girls” some day and be posting answers to help out another 13 year old.

Knowledge, Nurturing, Tolerance and Curtisy might be the rules one day.

The same reason they come here and ask to chat they are lost in a mature world and have no real idea how to deal with it.

Believe it or not, there are LOTS of ignorant people in this world. Yahoo Answers helped me realize that.

Just take it for what it’s worth, man. It’s a good experiment. Most people on the internets realize it’s all sarcasm and cheekiness on the internets and they take it with a grain of salt. Those who don’t will learn their lesson soon enough.

And your question begs the question– if it’s all so stupid, then what are you doing here?

(Or me for that matter. But I know I’m stupid.)

I originally came on here to ask a couple of investing questions and realized that I would be better off answering questions than asking. Some questions are just sooooo dumb I don’t know where to start.

I know what your saying, its difficult trolling through the questions looking for something that is intelligent , relative and mature.I think it has a lot to do being anonymous, and lonely with no one to relate to. I know that does not excuse them but kids are ignorant and should be ignored

I believe the majority who do ask ’stupid’ questions are very young aand ask the question’s about sex that they don’t feel comfortable asking their parents - such as “What does a girl like a guy to do when having sex”. And other’s are just for the shock value. Eventually they’ll grow up and mature, :-).

I thought this is voluntary, no one asked you to log in to this question and asnwer site, like me and everyone else, we made that choice. We have our individual reasons why we are here. If you find some questions stupid, ignore it, you dont have to be judgemental and no name calling. It may sound stupid to you but it may be a question the person wanted answered, maybe by ignorance, for humor, out of curiosity or whatever. Maybe you can reflect on the answers of others, it may lead you to more light….
