How do you get rid of an annoying co-worker - without killing them?

danielle811211 asked:

We have the most annoying lady ever working with us. Not only does she mess up her job but she tries to mess with other people’s jobs. She is scary looking, she has an annoying voice and she spends the whole day feeling sorry for herself and trying to get everyone else to feel sorry for her. She lies about things and contradicts herself all the time. However, when she is dealing with customers she tends to sound like she knows what is going on although she never follows through with helping them and makes the rest of us look like idiots as we don’t know what she has planned with them. Anyway we are in South Africa and it is illegal to just fire someone because they annoy the hell out of you and everyone else. How would we go about getting rid of her without actually bumping her off or shouting at her on every little technicality - cause she also cries when we try to tell her that she is doing something wrong and accuses us of picking on her. Please help!!

You could ‘accidentally’ break her legs. That’d get her off your back for a few weeks/months. How psychotic am I? Why do you force these thoughts thru my head?

There is a trick that always works. . . Get her resumé, fix it up perfectly and send it out to all types of employers and agencies, they will start calling her with offers of new jobs and she may take one of them. This always works. . .

Lace everything with exlax. If she gets diarea enough at work she might think that is is something that she is getting at work and quit. Or she’ll stay and everthing will smell like 5hit! Good Luck with that one.

I have had this problem before with a co worker as well. I simply sat down with the individule and in a nice and respectful manner told him how I felt. NOT HOW OTHERS FEEL, BUT HOW ” I ” FELT. If she is listening, she will hopefuly change, if not then you will have no choice but to use your gun. You can always plead temporary insanity! Everyone else does, over here in the USA.

P.S.
I would be more than happy to run over her ass in my truck !

This will be very difficult, but…
Find one or two things she did or is doing that are either good or less anoying then anything else she does. Compliment her on the good stuff, like if she happens to be helpful, and do not say anything bad the other times.
This will take a while, but if you keep it up, and others do the same, you will find that she will become the type of person you want around.
It’s either that or sending her on a buisness trip to unstable areas.

Well for starters, actually this person needs some professional attention. Secondly, stop stressing over it, just kill her and get it over with, I’m sure there are plenty of places in SA that you can dispose of the body. It would make the work place a much better place. While your at it off the suck ups, snitches, people that steal your work, the ones that just show up and don’t work, the ones that act like they are working but you end up doing there work, how about the ones that are on the phone allllll day with family members. Good Luck

Unfortunately, there are going to be people like that where-ever you work, so even if you were to change jobs to be rid of her you would probably come across the same problem with someone else.
The only way to deal with those type people is avoid them. If they try to complain to you or make you feel sorry for her, excuse yourself by saying that you were busy working on something important, or something similar to that. If she cries, be firm. When she sees that this is no longer getting her any attention or what she wants, she will straighten up or go somewhere where it does work (I.E: another job).
As far as looks are concerned, there is not much you can do. Besides, one should not judge by looks, but by actions.

At first, try to ignore her, but if all else fails, do not jump ythe gun and shoot her. Although it may seem like a good idea, it probably won’t work out for you in the end. Sit her down, and, like another said, chat with her about the good things she’s done, and try to make conversation with her. What she likes, how why she thinks doing the things she does will improve the Company, or Buisness you work in. Keep a steady trail of good advice and lots of compliments, but strat adding notes on how she could do better in somethings, and maybe even specify on what you think you need to change. Try to make her feel comfortable, like you would with a new neighbor or person at school, but give the feeling that you would like her to change. I myself have had problems with this at School, and this may or may not work. If not, stalk her until you’ve got enough dirt to get her fired..sorry, couldn’t help it. If she’s THAT annoying, it could be she feels that she is unliked, or is scared to talk to others. Good Luck!
